Jessica Olivar

Jessica is a Junior in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources as an Animal Science major on the Pre-Veterinary Medicine track and wishes to attend Veterinary School after she graduates.

At UConn, she is a mentor through METAS, a mentoring program at the Puerto Rican Latin American Cultural Center. Jessica is also a member of the sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi and a Louise Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) scholar. The National Residence Hall Honorary is also another way that Jessica stays involved with Reslife. She has been working at the Horse Barn for a year and volunteers at the West Haven Animal Clinic back at home.

Three Pieces of Advice for Prospective Students:

  1. Seek help when it is needed, it is not only you that is struggling so are others and no one should be embarrassed about it.
  2. Don’t stick to one way to study for an exam. Every class and their material is different so find out which works best for each.
  3. Balancing your school and social life. It is very important to not forget about yourself and take some time for you when times get overwhelming.
