Shaun Thomas

Shaun is a junior in College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. Shaun is currently majoring in Allied Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Sciences, following a Pre-Dental track in hopes of becoming a General Dentist after completing his undergraduate studies.

At the University of Connecticut, Shaun is a member of the Pre-Dental Society, an Undergraduate Representative for the Executive Board of ASHA For Education, a member of the Indian Student’s Association, an Altar Boy for St. Mary’s Knanaya Church for the past eleven years, a Sunday School teacher and a Kumon Tutor who assists young students with mathematics as well as reading comprehension. He is currently working in a psychology research lab as a research assistant helping with a study on physiological responses in regard to stress. This is Shaun’s first year as a CAHNR Ambassador and he is very hopeful in exemplifying the college and helping prospective students learn about the college and how it expresses the university as an agricultural school.

Three Pieces of Advice for Prospective Students:

  1. Make sure you manage your time so you have time fun and studying so you don’t become overwhelmed.
  2. It’s okay to fail. As a new student, you will learn what your strengths and weaknesses are during your first year. In the beginning it will be hard, but don’t let those failures bring you down. Work hard and don’t give up; everything else will fall in place!
  3. Keep an open mind and try new things. You will never know what interests you unless you give it a try!
