Alma Jeri-Wahrhaftig

My name is Alma Jeri-Wahrhaftig and I am from Mansfield, MA. I am a senior studying allied health sciences with a concentration in public health and health promotion and a minor in global studies. I have always been interested in health and disease prevention and coming from an incredibly global family, I have always found it important to continue expanding my knowledge of the world. In the future, I hope to combine my passion for public health and global studies to work as an epidemiologist on an international level and learn from different cultures. My goal is to create culturally competent and environmentally sustainable healthcare interventions for at-risk communities.

On campus, I work for the International Student and Scholar Services as an administrative assistant and am also a student researcher in Dr. Molly Waring’s lab that focuses on leveraging social media for health promotion among childbearing women. Outside of class, I am a member of the global house learning community where I have met many of my close mentors and friends at UConn, and I am also a part of the UConn Krav Maga club which practices self-defense skills.

A fun fact about me is that I have family on five of the seven continents! The only continents we are missing is Australia and Antarctica (maybe I should make it six?). My favorite dairy bar ice cream flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough!
