My name is Jigar Kapadia from Shelton, CT. As an Applied and Resource Economics major concentrating in both Business Management and Marketing and International Development, I have been able to combine vital business skills with a strong background in environmental factors, focusing on how the environment can influence the market. By being Ambassador, I hope to educate students who, like me once, may be unsure about their choices and show them the potential of the Applied and Resource Economics Program.
I got the chance to put what I had learned to use last spring by being a part of the Farm Credit East Fellows internship program. It allowed me to learn about the company through self-paced projects and assignments that were reliant on the knowledge I had gained thus far in my previous courses. Because of this experience, I hope to ultimately work within a similar agribusiness firm after achieving my bachelor’s degree.
I am also a Director for UConn’s Wildlife Society chapter and have participated in events such as whale watching and bear tagging. Aside from that, I have been involved at UConn in various ways in the past, from working in the Student Mailrooms to serving up meals in the Dining Hall to practicing Krav Maga late at night. But, at the end of the day, no matter what I have done, I have found that the best way to unwind is with my favorite flavor of ice cream from the Dairy Bar, mint Oreo.
